Pittcraft PDF Proofing Application |
Pittcraft Printing has a relatively simple website that contains content management, a newsletter application, and a resume collector. Recently, Pittcraft wanted a new type of application that has still been a challenge with many developers. The task was to create an application that converted HTML documents into a PDF document successfully. The PDF documents the needed to be generated were a business card, letterhead, envelope, greeting card and more have recently been added to the mix.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) located in Kansas City is currently using the application and others are next in line to make use of this application. Their need was to have the application to place orders while being able to approve the document before going to the print production department. Previously, a bottleneck was created by marketing and production going back and forth in an attempt to agree on an approved versions. In addition, more and more customers needed quick changes and further customizations. As a solution, we decided to create an application that built an HTML document by the visitor. This document was then converted to a PDF using ColdFusionMX7 and approved by the visitor. The document was created and saved in the database and was sent to the production department saving a large amount of time and communication costs. Pittcraft's new system logs every document created and is made secure to avoid crossing over one user’s order with another. Depending upon the login, each user can only see the orders placed by that particular organization. As of this date we are currently in the process of reproducing the same application over and over again for each client as we have created another avenue of income for this company to succeed. In addition to the application, Pittcraft has contracted to add more work making the application more flexible to allow users the option of building and selected what fields go one the card.
